An Ecologically-Focused Mushroom Walk in Montreal

Join mycologist Willoughby Arevalo for a participatory, field-based workshop, covering core skills for mushroom identification and biology, geared towards all levels of experience. We will observe and sense fungi in their natural settings while exploring their complex relationships with other organisms, including humans. Discussion topics include culinary and medicinal applications, ethical harvesting practices, cultivation and mycoremediation potential, traditional uses and more. Through this journey, participants will come to understand the roles that fungi play in symbiosis, succession, and regeneration, and how we can ally with fungi in our living systems to increase community and personal resilience.
