On Saturday, May 19th, SantroVélo (our community bike shop) will hold its annual spring Tune-Up event. This is a great chance to come and get your bike fixed while supporting the Roulant!
When: Saturday, May 19th from 12:00 pm – 5:00 pm
Where: In the alley next to the Roulant at 111 Roy East
At this event, volunteer bike mechanics offer a basic check-up (brakes, shifting, bottom bracket, headset, wheel axles, and tires) and will do repairs on two or three things that need a bit of love. “Things” include, for example, brake/shifter adjustment, tightening of loose bearings, lubing chains, or changing tires.
Here are the costs for the tune-up:
- Basic Tune-up: $20 (reduced rate of $15 available upon request); purchase of new or used parts costs extra
- Basic Tune-up + 1 Year Membership to Santrovélo: $30 (reduced rate of $25 available upon request)
Please note that the tune-up day is the only time of year when mechanics will do the repairs for you. Normally, SantroVélo invites people to come learn how to do the repairs themselves, with guidance and support from those who are more experienced.
Also note that if you need major repairs, it is best to get a membership and come to the shop during regular hours for help. Annual membership costs $15. Consult our opening hours here.
See you there for some good ol’ neighbourhood hangout fun! For more information, send an email to Ben.
