After their tenure at the farm and two years as Urban Agriculture Coordinator, Noah is leaving their position at the Roulant for exciting new horizons! This fall, Noah will be starting the Lutherie program at Cégep du Vieux, crafting stringed instruments and making beautiful music. Noah’s wicked sense of humour, can-do attitude, and love for the gardens will be dearly missed at the Roulant.
Rachel is joining the gardens team as seasonal co-coordinator alongside Frankie. She is already very familiar with the Roulant gardens, where she previously worked as a herbalist and gardener with Jardins Résilients, an initiative offering therapeutic horticultural workshops in urban agriculture to Indigenous people experiencing homelessness. Rachel’s work with other community initiatives like Jardin pour tous de Milton-Parc and the Women’s Centre of Montreal makes her a powerful addition to the Roulant team.
Eliana comes to the Roulant with a background in anthropology with a focus on how humans relate to the natural world. Eliana is passionate about urban farming’s ability to foster connections, improve mental health, and empower communities. Her love for plants, meditation, and music, as well as her deep understanding of human-plant relations make her a wonderful fit for the agricultural world of the Roulant as an Urban Agricultural Facilitator.
Ashlee is a lifelong urban gardener with a background in community care: she’s a founder member of the OPRIG Community Garden initiative and helped establish a pantry program at her university. Ashlee is enthusiastic about intergenerational connection from her time volunteering in a long-term care home. She’s also a certified lifeguard/swimming instructor and has a background in forensic pathology! This summer, Ashlee will be bringing her diverse experience and love for community work to her role as Urban Agriculture Facilitator.
Welcome to the team Rachel, Eliana and Ashlee, and a big thank you to Noah for all they’ve contributed to the Roulant in their time here.
