It’s time to bid the Roulant’s seasonal urban agriculture staff adieu as they head off for new and exciting adventures! Urban agriculture facilitators Ashlee and Eliana and urban agriculture coordinators Rachel and Magali have been hard at work gardening and implementing projects which will doubtlessly improve the Roulant gardens for years to come.
Urban agriculture facilitators Ashlee and Eliana and coordinator Frankie were supported in their projects by a rotation of coordinators this summer, including Rachel and Magali. Rachel’s knowledge of herbalism and Magali’s expertise in the gardens as former urban agriculture manager were invaluable this summer, and we’re excited to see what the future holds for them.
Ashlee has much improved the Roulant’s composting system in her time here, in addition to creating a beautiful zine all about getting to know the plants in your neighbourhood (which you can see at the last kiosk of the season on October 24th). Ashlee is returning to school this fall to pursue a degree in animation at Concordia.
Eliana became a construction master during her time at the Roulant, redesigning, refashioning and refinishing the two rooftop garden benches. Eli also greatly helped in building new tracking systems and became famous for her beautiful handwriting and presentation of Roulant vegetables at each weekly kiosk. This fall, she’s taking her organizational and constructional abilities to begin courses in landscape design.
The Roulant has been very lucky to have the urban agriculture team with us this summer. Help us say goodbye in style at the last kiosk on Friday October 24th from 4 – 6PM. Bring your dancing shoes–this will be a karaoke kiosk!
