If you are a resident of the Plateau Mont-Royal and are looking for more affordable access to fresh, local food, the Carte Proximité program might be for you.
The Carte Proximité, a project of Carrefour Solidaire CCA, is a food voucher program that allows participants to shop at accredited local food stores and markets that are committed to sourcing from local-based supply chains. The goal of the project is twofold: to improve access to fresh, healthy, local food for people experiencing food insecurity, and to promote short-circuit sourcing and the local economy.
Santropol Roulant is one of the distributors of the Carte Proximité for residents of the Plateau neighbourhood. The card can be used from July 1st to October 31st to buy local products from participating organizations and distributors across the city, including the Roulant vegetable stand at our weekly summer Kiosque alimentaire / Friday Hang.
You can apply for a Carte Proximité in-person at the Roulant (111 Roy Street East) on Thursday, April 23rd from 1:30 to 6:30 PM. All you need to bring is proof that you are a resident of the Plateau and be ready to answer some questions about your food security situation.
Not a resident of the Plateau but could still benefit from the card? See the list of distributing organizations.
