A send-off for seasonal staff

Featured, Staff

This summer, the Roulant was lucky to have five seasonal staff members on the agriculture and Meals-on-Wheels teams. Each one of them brought their own skills and unique energy to the Roulant food cycle – growing, teaching, learning, and creating community along the way.

At the farm, Jez and Nadia helped inaugurate the first year of the new agroeducational centre, running volunteer shifts, planting, harvesting, and helping shaping new programming at the farm.

Downtown, urban agriculture facilitators Cleo and Lucy spent the summer tending the gardens, hosting the weekly Friday Hang / Kiosque alimentaire, facilitating volunteer shifts, and working on their own special projects. Lucy hosted a community storytelling event all about the humble tomato, while Cleo built bike-inspired infrastructure for growing beans and pioneered a program bringing fresh fruits and vegetables from the Roulant gardens to food banks via bicycle.

Finally, the Meals-on-Wheels program benefitted immensely from the temporary addition of long-time volunteer Niko to the team. Niko returns to their full-time social work degree at the end of the month, and hopes to continue volunteering at the Roulant.

On behalf of the Roulant, please join us in thanking these seasonal staff for their hard work and wishing them well on their next adventures. They’ll be greatly missed!
