Your Friendly Neighbourhood Pocket Market !

Agriculture, Events, News

This summer, make sure to drop by Santropol Roulant’s Pocket Market which will be running every Thursday from 4:30-7pm over the peak summer months (July 12th-September 27th).

You will find us at the corner of Ste-Famille and Milton, selling vegetables, fruits and HONEY harvested from our two urban gardens and our peri-urban farm site in Senneville, as well as from other local and organic farms. There will be other delicious goodies to buy such as home-made pies, granola, energy bars, cookies, salad dressings, and home-made cooking sauces!

Music will be playin’ and the sun will be shining so make sure to come on’ down!

Low-income market-goers can choose to buy a $10 punch card worth $20 in fruits and vegetables. Every time a dollar is spent at the market, a hole is punched in their card. To purchase a card, visit Santropol Roulant at 111 Roy Street East or buy one directly at the Pocket Market, but do so fast – quantities are limited!

You can also find us every second Saturday at the Marché Citoyen in Little Burgundy, situated at the corner of St-Jacques and Des Seigneurs. At this market, we sell our sustainable grown produce at a 50% discount. With no major grocery store within close proximity, the neighborhood is considered a food desert. We are proud to be working with Citizen’s Committee to make local and sustainably grown produce to this underserviced and underprivileged neighborhood. The faces are friendly and the breakfast crêpes at the associated Café Citoyen are amazing! It’s always a good time. Come see for yourself.

Market dates in Little Burgundy are as follows:

July 14th

August 4th, 18th

September 1st, 15th

October 6th

    Hi,

My name is Kat. I am a cook for an arts and cooking cooperative called Le Milieu. We are presently cooking for a couple colleges around McGill and are establishing a community supported kitchen to provide homemade meals made with quality local ingredients. We want to purchase our ingredients from local farmers to support our community and like minded organizations. We would love to purchase our produce from your gardens. I don’t know how much you have or if you sell most of it at the pocket market. But if there is anything we could purchase that would be awesome. Just to give you an idea, we have catering gigs booked for anywhere from 15-70 people over the next 5 weeks. We want to design our meals based on what is available locally.

On another note, we would like to host educational workshops in our kitchen space. For the fall we would like to do a canning and preservation workshop. If there is someone from santropol or that you could refer us to to collaborate with that would be fantastic!!!!
