The start of the 2019 urban fruit harvest season is only two months away!
For this upcoming season, the core of the collective is happy to announce that we are back in the saddle, or better yet, up in the trees, again! We are diligently working on increasing picking opportunities, providing stronger support for pick leaders and encouraging more connections among collective members and with the larger Montreal community.
Eager to take charge in harvesting urban fruit?
Then come learn about leading harvests at one of our two Pick-Leader Info Sessions at Santropol Roulant (111 Roy East St).
When: Sunday, May 26th at 1:30 PM or Thursday, May 30th at 6:30 PM.
What is a pick leader? Pick leaders are in charge of planning and leading our picks. After a mandatory training session in June, pick leaders adopt a fruit tree, track the ripeness of its fruit, and arrange a harvest with the tree owner and the pickers. You may adopt and harvest as many fruit trees throughout the season as you’d like!
As a pick leader, you’ll gain valuable leadership experience and form meaningful relationships within the collective and with the urban agriculture and food security communities of Montreal. Of course, you’ll also learn a lot about fruit in addition to receiving a share of fruit from our harvests!
