The Roulant Beekeeping Collective is seeking committed members to join us in caring for the rooftop hives! Prior beekeeping knowledge is strongly encouraged. Members will gain hands-on experience in urban beekeeping, sustainable practices, and hive management, and learn through collaboration with other collective members. Joining also provides the opportunity to connect with a community of like-minded beekeepers and contribute to Santropol Roulant, supporting our bees.
Members should be bilingual (English/French) and able to commit for a full year. The commitment includes attending weekly meetings in spring and summer and biweekly meetings in fall and winter, alternating in person at Santropol Roulant and online via Zoom, plus 2–3 hours per week outside meetings for beekeeping tasks and independent learning.
Tasks throughout the year include: maintaining hives, monitoring bee health, harvesting honey, processing wax, learning and discussing beekeeping techniques with fellow members, and contributing to collective planning and communication via Slack and Trello. Members will also pay a $50 annual membership fee which covers beekeeping supplies. Any surplus funds from these membership fees are donated to Santropol Roulant.
Sign up for one of two open houses to learn more about the beekeeping collective and the responsibilities of our members!
