Looking to fill your panty with delicious seasonal produce? Unsure where to start?
Spend an evening with us in the Santropol Roulant community kitchen and learn the ropes. Safe water-bath canning will be demystified and delicious salsa will be made. Participants will have the opportunity to learn the basics of canning in a hands on way!
When : Thursday September 11th from 6:30 to 9:30 pm.
Where : Santropol Roulant 111 Roy street East, Montreal
Who : Anyone who would like to learn to can food!
Cost : $ 40 per participant (jar of salsa included!) , proceeds will go to Santropol Roulant.

– sourcing and selecting recipes
– safe ingredient substitutions
– equipment
– processing time
All participants will go home with a recipe, a step-by-step canning checklist, and a delicious 500 ml jar of salsa made from Santropol Roulant’s montreal-grown, organic tomatoes, peppers and onions!
The workshop will be bilingual (French/English).
This workshop will be led by Isabelle, Santropol Roulant’s food transformation coordinator, and Jeremie, former food transformation and urban agriculture intern extraordinaire. Isabelle has been canning for 4 years and loves teaching people new skills. Jeremie has worked in kitchens for several years, has great knife skills and is an experienced facilitator of workshops and volunteer shifts at the Roulant.
Note :Registration will be limited to 12 participants in order to ensure a hands-on experience for all!
