Presenting a brand new canning workshop: Fruit Ketchup!
Spend an evening with us in the Santropol Roulant community kitchen and learn the ropes of canning. Safe water-bath canning will be demystified and delicious Quebecois-style fruit ketchup will be made. Participants will have the opportunity to learn the basics of canning in a hands-on way! The same technique can be used to make chutneys, salsas and fruit butters!
When: Wednesday September 16th from 6:00 to 9:00 pm.
Where: Santropol Roulant 111 Roy street East, Montreal
Who: Anyone who would like to learn to can food!
Cost: $45 per participant (jar of fruit ketchup included!), proceeds will go to Santropol Roulant.

All participants will go home with a recipe, a step-by-step canning checklist, and a delicious 500 ml jar of ketchup made from Santropol Roulant’s Montreal-grown, organic tomatoes, peppers and onions and yummy urban fruit.
The workshop will be bilingual (French/English).
This workshop will be led by Isabelle, Santropol Roulant’s food preservation coordinator, and Karine, food preservation intern extraordinaire. Isabelle has been canning for 4 years and loves teaching people new skills.
Note: Please register in advance as the workshop will be limited to 12 participants in order to ensure a hands-on experience for all!
