Last Thursday, hundreds of clients, volunteers, supporters, staff and neighbours joined together to celebrate Santropol Roulant’s 21st anniversary. Complete with a community picnic and BBQ, live music, workshops, and tours of the organization, Rue Fermier was a fantastic success. (More photos below.)
This event was more than a celebration – it was an opportunity to feed our community, and demonstrate through food what goes on at the Roulant. With the abundance of the season, we were able to use fresh produce from our periurban farm in Senneville. This food was then lovingly prepared and served by a team of staff and volunteers. Rue Fermier was a beautiful way to come full circle with all of our activities, and accomplish a part of our mission.
A very big thank you to everyone who attended the event and helped out, including the countless clients who joined to eat and celebrate, and the fantastic team of volunteers who brought the whole event together, including our collectives.
A big thank you to our supporters and partners:
- Office Municipal d’Habitation de Montréal for use of the park space;
- La Maison de l’amitié for the tents;
- RISE Kombucha for providing us with their locally fermented tea;
- Paul and Neila of Tangerine for supporting the event and providing entertainment;
- Globe Car & Truck Rentals for providing a truck to help transport materials and equipment;
- Our neighbouring restaurants Les Volailles et Gibiers Fernando and La Chilenita for serving their delicious offerings;
- Jérémie Vienneau – Kitchen Co-Manager, Anthony – Urban Agriculture Intern, Gordon and Laurent;
- Suzette, Renee, Jacqueline and Susan who helped make the incredible decorations for the event;
- Musicians from our community: Sebastian and Ben, Marc-Olivier, Raphaël and Magalie;
- Dj Mario and Dj Paul of the Zig Zag collective;

Il y a tellement une grande beauté dans l’amitié communautaire.
Oui, c’était notre but – de rassembler la communauté. Et le résultat était vraiment beau, je suis d’accord! :)
