Santropol Roulant wrapped up a record-breaking second half of 2019 by welcoming nearly 200 employees from 15 companies for fun and meaningful team-building and volunteer activities. From farming to cooking to knocking on doors, we’d like to thank all of our Corporate Partners for choosing to increase their social impact through team building at the Roulant, and thank all the individuals whose energy and enthusiasm helped keep their community connected and well fed.
In July, two groups of enthusiastic articling students from Lapointe Rosenstein Marchand Melançon went out on two days of sunny deliveries; RSM Canada employees delivered to clients on the Mile End and Côte-des-Neiges routes over two days; and Dun & Bradstreet brought together eight team members in the urban gardens for a bountiful garlic harvest to feed the Meals-on-Wheels service.
In August and September, RGA Canada rallied two groups of volunteers for deliveries by bicycle, while Verizon Media prepared, packaged and delivered 103 delicious servings of garlic shrimp and quinoa. As the harvest season drew to a close, 22 Airbnb employees gathered at the Roulant farm in Senneville for a day in the fields; Intact Insurance harvested fresh herbs and vegetables from the rooftop garden in September, and a second group closed out the season at the Roulant farm in October. Finally, we piloted a team-building kitchen workshop that saw 14 Ubisoft colleagues prepare and enjoy a variety of Japanese dishes together, guided by a member of the Roulant community.
« Je n’ai entendu que des commentaires positifs sur cette expérience, je crois que le mélange de cuisiner en équipe et de contribuer à un engagement social a vraiment bien fonctionné. Je le recommanderai à d’autres équipes! »
—Jean-Baptiste Halle, Ubisoft
November and December were record-breaking months for the Roulant’s Meals-on-Wheels service—including the most meals served in a single day and most meals served in a single month! Many corporate groups contributed to this success: CIBC staffers came in to help chop veggies for a vegetarian lasagna in November; ten colleagues from Korne Ortho experienced a day-in-the-life of the Meals-on-Wheels; Kuehne + Nagel participated in two full days of meal prep, packaging and deliveries; and DNV GL’s 5 volunteers delivered 116 servings of almond-breaded fish.
“Thanks to you and your whole team for embracing [us our] first time in your organization! We agreed that it was a wonderful experience and we would be looking forward to do it again!”
—Karine Mingot, CIBC
Several groups made multiple appearances as the seasons changed: volunteers from AXA Assistance Canada took turns preparing and packaging warm meals for people in their community in July and October; Desjardins employees helped harvest the green roof in the summer while others came for kitchen shifts and deliveries in December. Finally, Playtika worked side-by-side during a full day of volunteering in July, and returned to offer clients warm meals and seasons greetings on a snowy day in December.
All these corporate groups offered not only their time but also their financial support by making donations to the Roulant, making a valuable investment in their employees and their community. We offer a huge thank you to all for their time and generosity!
