What’s happening on the farm?
Work on the Agroeducational centre building project started in the beginning of June with some excavation and ground preparation. Otherwise, the cover crops are growing well and the rhubarb patch is going strong despite the cool and cloudy spring weather. The next couple months will bring some harvests: garlic scapes, currants, and garlic bulbs! Keep an eye out for the announcement for the garlic harvest days which will take place at the end of July.
In May ,we put in 150 asparagus plants which will provide the kitchen with a fresh spring harvest for years to come. We also planted over 150 perennial flower plants in some new hedge sections which will provide food and habitat for native insects as well as add color and beauty to the farm fields.
