Santrovélo, our community, do-it-yourself bike shop, is recruiting new volunteers to make up its new coordination group.
This all-new group of volunteers will coordinate all of Santrovelo’s activities on behalf of its members and continue the mission of making bicycle repair skills more accessible.
We are looking to form a core committee responsible for its governance and operations. This new group will look after the bike shop’s administration, strategic planning, and day-to-day events on behalf of its members. If you want to support the Montreal cycling community, want to empower people to repair their bikes all while gaining leadership experience then this is for you!
We don’t ask for any prior experience, only a willingness to learn about Santrovelo and gain experience in leadership along the way.
The collective is looking for motivated members to support, promote and oversee the bike shop’s operations, organize activities for visitors, and take an active role in making the shop a welcoming place.
Throughout the year the group will work together as a collective to look after its finances and make strategic planning decisions on the future of the workshop.
We ask for a commitment of an evening a week, either on Tuesday or Wednesday, for a two-hour meeting at Santropol Roulant as well as three to five hours a week dedicated to working on tasks or activities during a week outside of meetings.
These are some positions/skills we are looking for in members to apply or to learn:
- External communications manager – Facebook page management, Santrovelo website updates coordination, e-mail
- Internal communications manager (Slack / Translation / Google docs maintenance / Santrovelo wiki page / Shop signage).
- Volunteer Coordinator (volunteer recruiting and coordination)
- Finance & Budgeting Coordinator
- Shift Schedule Coordinator (i.e. Slack publishing of schedules, tracking and follow-ups, closure calls, etc.)
- Health-Safety-Environment Manager (i.e recycling and waste management)
- Ordering and Inventory
- …to name just a few
Would you like to be part of the team?
We are looking to welcome around 7 members to this new group. If you are interested please send a message to santrovelo@santropolroulant.org by Monday May 6th. Tell us a bit about yourself, what motivates you, your skills and how you would like to contribute to Santrovelo’s coordination group.
Please also indicate if you would be available for weekly meetings on Tuesday or Wednesday (tentatively planned for 6pm to 8pm).
We will get back to you in the week following with more information.
