Nearly one hundred people went to Senneville to visit the Ferme du Roulant on Community Farm Day on August 24th.The Roulant’s community gathered in the enchanting farm setting to visit the facilities, enjoy a good meal, listen to music and get together.
If you did not know it, the Ferme du Roulant produces more than 15,000 kg of fresh and organic vegetables annually, the majority of which are distributed in our members’ baskets. Nearly 2,000 kg of these vegetables are used by the kitchen team for the Meals-on-Wheels program. It’s a small way how, peri-urban agriculture contributes to the food security of hundreds of Montreal seniors!
If you wish to visit the Ferme du Roulant and lend a hand, we are always looking for volunteers for shifts on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays this fall. You will contribute to the maintenance and preparation of the plots, the harvest and the preparation of the baskets under the supervision of the farm team.
Thanks to all volunteers and participants, to Maria Trujillo, Liz Morgan and Howard Reitman, to Sanivac, and mostly to the team at Ferme du Roulant!
