A look back at the holidays

News, Stories

As lights are being taken down and trees carried to curbs, we’re turning our focus toward the exciting year ahead.  But before we step fully into 2013, we’d like to take a minute to revisit the wonderful holiday season that we just enjoyed at the Roulant.

The festivities began with record-breaking attendance at our annual client holiday brunch in mid-December. Over 35 clients and as many volunteers and staff filled the building to spend an afternoon over turkey and tourtière. We were delighted to be joined by Tonal Ecstasy, a choir from McGill University whose a cappella performance set the mood for the festivities.

We’d like to send a huge thank you to all of the volunteers who made the afternoon possible, and also give a shout out to Keyan Bennaceur, whose crafty camera work is responsible for the photos featured here.

Throughout the rest of December, our clients and volunteers enjoyed delicious cookies made and packaged with love by the folks from Amma Quebec and Apathy is Boring. But these were not the only gifts the Roulant received this season; a number of families came out to volunteer and, in the spirit of SR, our work was a truly intergenerational effort.

With that, dear reader, we wish you the very best for 2013! We’re looking forward to the challenges and rewards of the upcoming year, and we hope to see you around soon!
