Come help us with canning!

Agriculture, Food Preservation, Kitchen, Volunteering - Personal

Summer is almost over (we said almost!) but our food preservation volunteer shifts are in full swing! For the past couple of months, staff and volunteers have been turning delicious Montreal-grown fruit and veggies into non-perishable food items.  Think homemade salsa, dehydrated tomatoes, pear jam, kimchi and sauerkraut, just to name a few.

As fruits and veggies continue to pour into the Roulant from our peri-urban farm in Senneville and our urban fruit harvesting collective Les Fruits Défendus. we need your help!

When:

  • Tuesdays and Fridays from 12:30-3:00pm or 3:00-5:30pm
  • Wednesdays from 11:00am-1:30pm, 1:30-4:00pm, or 4:00-6:30pm

Whether you’re an experienced canner or would like to try it for the first time, all levels of experience are welcome in the kitchen. If you try it out and would like to come on a regular basis, that would be great too – just let us know!

For more information and to sign up for some shifts, contact Ben, our Volunteer program Coordinator, at 514-284-9335 or by email.
