Tomatothon September 9th!

Events, Food Preservation, General Store, Local, Volunteering - Personal

Do you love canning? Or want to try it for the first time?  If you miss canning tomatoes with your Nonna, love local, organic produce and despise wasting, or simply enjoy a good hard day’s work, then come on out to our first ever Tomatothon! We will blanch, peel, simmer and can tomatoes for 12 hours! Who knows how many jars we’ll fill!

  • When: Wednesday September 9th from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm.
  • Where: Santropol Roulant 111 Roy street East, Montreal
  • Who: Anyone who would like to join in! Please be sure to RSVP!

Volunteers are welcome to join us for blocks of 2-4 hours. Please email Ben to let him know that you’re interested; indicate your availability throughout the day as well as how many hours of involvement would suit you.

The tomatoes come from the Roulant’s farm, right here on the island of Montreal. Each participant will go home with a jar of delicious local organic tomatoes and the remaining jars will be sold to benefit the Roulant’s programs!

If you have any questions, email Ben or call 514-284-9335.
