Seedling sale & urban agriculture supplies

Agriculture, Events, General Store

Did you know that  the month of May is all about urban agriculture?

For several years now, Cultiver Montreal organizes many neighbourhood events in celebration of urban gardens. We will be participating in two of these this year: Cultiver Verdun & Cultivons Le Plateau where you can come and get everything you need to cultivate this summer, but also meet your local producers.

The urban and peri-urban farmers of Santropol Roulant will be present on site to sell the seedlings grown with love on our farm! It will also be possible to take some of our preserves and organic seeds from the Tourne-Sol farm.

Cultivons le Plateau

When: Saturday, May 25, between 10am and 4pm.

Where: Duluth Avenue between Saint-Laurent and Hôtel-de-Ville will be transformed into a real urban agriculture fair.

How much: FREE!

For the occasion, the Borough of Plateau-Mont-Royal will distribute free flowers, wood chips and compost * to the residents of the Plateau (proof of residency required) starting at 10:00 a.m. This is an opportunity not to be missed!

Looking to start your own seedlings?

The Roulant has seeds, compost and soil available on sale at our general store. Our seeds are from Tourne-Sol Farm and they’re certified organic. We have selected some great varieties for urban gardening in Montreal and for more tips, have a look at our gardening guide.

Seeds cost 3,50$ / package (each one containing a different number of seeds, depending on the variety)

5 litres of Bionik compost is available for $12 and Fafard potting soil is $9 for 25 litres or 5kg.

Why buy soil and seeds at the Roulant General Store?

We keep the General Store stocked with products that reflect a love for people and local food. We are happy to support people as they embark on their first growing projects. Additionally, the revenue supports the work of the Roulant and allows us to be more financially resilient.
