The Adventures of Laure-Adélie at Santropol Roulant

News, Volunteering - Personal

Laure-Adélie volunteers at the Roulant since December 2019. She’s involved in the kitchen and for meal deliveries and wanted to share an experience she lived while doing a delivery with Chris Kennedy, long-time member of the Roulant community. If you would like to share a volunteering experience with the community, send a quick email to Jean-François! Ed.

The best activity I discovered in 2020 to this date is delivering meals to seniors accompanied by a person in a wheelchair. Chris suggested I climb on the back of his electric wheelchair to go faster. It was magical to do that, a very nice meeting and we were going at full speed, almost like a slowly moving bike or like someone running, and we were cutting through the snow that covered the city! ☀️❄️💥💪💚

It’s the first time I’ve seen the city from such a different angle, because I was elevated. It’s really interesting to see the city from a few centimeters upward! It made me realize that depending on our height we perceive the city and our environment differently, and that for once I felt like being a little above the city.

This is one of the most unusual activities I have experienced so far.

The children looked at us with a dumbfounded look 😲😍☺Amazing experience!

In short, things are happening at the Roulant. Very nice meetings and connections. Thank you, amazing route partner!
