Nearly a month after the 2021 Winter Campaign ended, we are still speechless at the unprecedented wave of support from the donor community. As 2020’s challenges extended into the past year, and we were faced with unforeseen expenses tied to record-high inflation and a record 33,900 meals, Roulant donors rose to our call to join us on the frontlines!
Once again, we made history together, raising a total of $88,599 to reach Montrealers most affected by food insecurity. We continue to be grateful for your commitment to your community. Your generosity came in many shapes and sizes this year: from a $5 one-time contribution, to a new monthly donation commitment, to important securities gifts – every bit counts. Here’s how your support of all sizes impacted us this year:
- Over 30% of donors who participated in both the 2020 and 2021 winter campaign increased their gift this year, helping us better respond to the increased needs of our community;
- 3 winter campaign donors started new monthly donations, gifting us the stability needed to plan for our future;
- Throughout 2021, we received over 1,200 donations under $20 which totalled nearly $16,000 and show the impact of collective change;
- Of the 276 winter campaign donors, 66 of you were first time donors! Whether you have a personal connection to the Roulant or are just joining our community, thank you for being here.
Your engagement ensured that we started the new year with flexibility and adaptability to keep our programs running in the face of unforeseen challenges, like the wave of Omicron that swept through our volunteer base and in December and January, threatening the meals of our 204 clients. Your support also gives us the security to plan for social change over the long-term. Looking back and looking ahead, your partnership continues to strengthen food security and social inclusion for some of the most vulnerable members of our community.
