Rue Fermier: From the Roulant to La Cité!

Events

The Roulant team is excited to invite you to your favourite summer event… Rue Fermier 2022! This annual open house and community celebration will be hosted for the very first time at La Cité des Hospitalières, the site of our newest urban agriculture garden in the heart of the Plateau. The event will be hosted outdoors, except in the case of inclement weather, and will be fully accessible. We feel fortunate to be able to welcome you for this seasonal celebration of agriculture and community in July!

When: Thursday, July 21, 2022
What time: 6 PM to 9 PM
Where: La Cité des Hospitalières (251 des Pins West avenue)
Cost: Free activities, food and drinks by donation

Join us for a festive, intergenerational evening of live music and dancing, face painting and kids activities, garden tours, vegetable sales, Meals-on-Wheels obstacle course, and more special surprises! Don’t miss this chance to explore a wonderful new site full of potential for inclusive educational programming and community-building. Whether you’re a donor, a volunteer, a Meals-on-Wheels client, funder, community partner or a neighbour,  join us in celebrating all that we have accomplished together for stronger social inclusion and food security in Montréal. The event will feature fun for the whole family, and shine a light on the Roulant’s programming and impact. Scroll to the bottom of the page for a detailed schedule of activities and the menu.

Access to the Site

The event will be held in the Cour de Ferme of la Cité-des-Hospitalière at 251 Avenue des Pins West, and in the adjacent community room in the case of rain. Visits of the garden will be accessible through tours at scheduled moments throughout the event.

You can access the event site on foot via the sidewalk on the north side of Avenue des Pins between Saint-Urbain and Parc Avenue. Please note that there is construction all along des Pins, but the access to the Cité-des-Hospitalières will remain open.

There is no parking available on-site for the community at large. On-site parking is reserved for staff and volunteers transporting clients of the Meals-on-Wheels service and community members requiring accessibility accommodations. Please call us if you have particular needs! 514-284-9335

Bike parking on site is limited to two bike racks.

Accessibility

The outdoor event site is accessible, including an accessible washroom. Garden access includes a mix of cement path, gravel path and grass. We will have two staff members available during each tour to support with accessibility needs.

For the indoor site in the case of rain, we are working on ensuring accessibility accommodations. If you have particular questions or concerns, please contact us! 514-284-9335

Covid Safety

As this is a large intergenerational community gathering, masks will remain optional outdoors. We will have masks available for anyone who wishes to wear one. Attendees will have various levels of comfort and will take precautions based on their individual circumstances. Clients of the Meals-on-Wheels service will be in attendance and volunteers and staff in direct contact with these community members will be wearing masks.

In the case that the event is moved indoors, masks will be strongly encouraged at all times, except when eating. We will take additional precautions including bringing cube ventilators, and ensure that windows and doors are open to ensure adequate ventilation.

Thank you for helping take care of your community.
