Celebrating Storytelling

Events, Featured, Fundraising, Stories

In late September, 70 people gathered together for Santropol Roulant’s first ever storytelling event, Récits du Roulant. Our headlining storytellers included Chris Godsall, co-founder of the Roulant; Frankie Traichel, current farm co-coordinator; Ren Nilsson, author of The Southern Wall: The Art of Engagement at Santropol Roulant and professor in social innovation; and Jonathan Lebire, co-founder of Comm-Un. They shared heartwarming stories that ranged from the early days of the Meals-on-Wheels program, to our new work with people experiencing homelessness, to important moments at the farm. There was even a frog puppet involved!

During an open-mic portion of the evening, volunteers and staff shared the different ways that their roles in our collective work in food security and social inclusion have touched their lives.

As per usual, the kitchen team made an amazing spread of homemade snacks, and there were plenty of beautiful interactions between community members, some longtime friends of the Roulant, some getting a first introduction to this model of community care. Thank you for being a part of creating the warm memories that surround Santropol Roulant!

Check out the photos below. Our photographer, ivan arturo, captured many beautiful moments of storytelling and connection.
