Our Senneville Farm: an urban and peri-urban food system

Agriculture, Food, Meals-on-Wheels, News, Volunteering - Personal

While we continue to deliver warm meals throughout the winter and host events with our client members, we also spend a lot of time planning for the upcoming high season, in our agriculture program.

We’ve been working for years to have better control over the origin of our food products. This desire is reflected in our suburban farm in Senneville, a learning field in agriculture and a tool to grow food security in Montreal. The farm represents the enormous potential of the lands of the island of Montreal: to cultivate them is a way to preserve them.

Did you know that the Roulant sells fresh, organic vegetables in the summer at reduced prices in low-income neighborhoods? Or that we host weekly farmers’ markets and sell baskets through our community supported agriculture program? All of this in addition to supplying fresh produce delivered door to door, by bike,  for the clients of our Meals-on-Wheels program. This summer,we invite you to contribute to growing food security in Montreal in your own way, and to visit our farm in sunny Senneville!

Until then, take a look at this amazing aerial video – thanks, Jean-François Boyd for your amazing work! – of our farm while we all wait for a generous summer.
