The New Crew

Staff

You may have noticed that over the past few months our newsletters have been riddled with job postings and internship offers. Now it’s time to meet the fabulous folks who have brought a fresh wave of energy and inspiration over the past several weeks. All of their bios can be found on our Staff page.

The Urban Agriculture (UA) team:

Christian 150x150 Anthony 150x150

Christian, our  UA apprentice for six months, had already been busy setting up the gardens at McGill campus, organizing workshops and working with Carlo to ensure an educational and productive season in the downtown gardens. Check out some of Christian’s lovely garden pics on our instagram account.

Anthony, one of our UA interns this year, is spending the next couple months working in the gardens, leading volunteering shifts and working with our meals-on-wheels team to deliver veggies from the garden to our clients.

The Farm team:

Justine and Samuel, our two farm apprentices, are both here for the entire season, working closely with Clémence, Adam and Howard in the fields in Senneville. You may get to meet them if you volunteer at the farm or come by our Thursday Market.

Justine has been with us since the beginning of the season, prepping the fields, planting and weeding, and even playing a key role in the plans and construction of the farm’s new (ginormous) greenhouse.

Samuel, the latest edition to this year’s farm team, is putting into practice the farm management skills that he learned during his studies in organic agriculture. You may have crossed paths with Samuel at our seedling sale during the Cultiver le Plateau event in May.

In the office:

gianhi 150x150 Malika 150x150

Gianhi is our new Meals-on-Wheels intern and will spend the next 6 months working closely with our volunteers and clients. Come say hi to Gianhi in the office or during an afternoon kitchen shift.

Malika, our Community Event Planner, can be found at the Roulant for the next couple months, eagerly planning an extraordinary community picnic and open house in July. Let her know if you want to be involved.
deanna150x150 SantropolRoulant

Deanna recently joined the team as our new Fundraising Administrator. She brings lots of fundraising experience and is honing her skills in the more administrative aspect while completing her studies. If you receive a nice card after making a donation, it has been written with care by Deanna.

And, as we welcome a new Fundraising Administrator to the team, we must also say “see you later” to Marie-Claude, who has moved on to other employment but who certainly will remain part of the community for many years to come, as a volunteer, monthly donor, and most importantly of all, a dear friend. Thank you Marie-Claude for your amazing creativity and dedication over the past years!

Read more about all of the new staff members on this page and feel free to send the an email to welcome them.

Thanks Denis, I think we’re done building the greenhouse at the farm, but I’m sure there will be plenty more projects that you can help with in the future. See ya!
