Throughout the summer, we were fortunate to have the help of several enthusiastic and motivated corporate groups. We would like to highlight three of them.
In June, the Montreal office of Morgan Stanley sent us a total of 50 participants to help prepare and deliver fresh meals for our Meals-on-Wheels client-members, and to get their hands dirty in our McGill Gardens. They worked in teams of two to six volunteers to help prepare and deliver the meal of the day, as well as to transplant herbs, do some weeding, and prepare the soil for more seeding and harvesting. In addition to volunteering, the company made a generous donation to support our programs.
In July, we welcomed two groups – AMEX and LRMM. AMEX came with a group of 7 participants to help deliver around 30 meals to our client-members. They were split up into groups of two to three people, and each group was put in charge of a particular delivery territory and sent out on foot, by bus and by car with backpacks full of hot meals. LRMM came not only to help with deliveries, but also with the preparation and packaging of those meals, with a total of 11 participants. Both companies were also generous enough to make donations to support our work.
