The 2017 meals-on-wheels calendar is here!

Fundraising, Meals-on-Wheels

We are excited to share the 2017 meals-on-wheels calendar with you! The calendar is a great tool for clients to make informed dietary choices, as they can order the meals that best respond to their taste and needs. It provides them with the daily meal listing for the entire year, with the aim of reinforcing their autonomy.

Planning a year’s worth of meals
Each fall, the meals-on-wheels team plans the coming year’s menu for our clients. It includes old favourites as well as new recipes developed by our kitchen. We try to create a menu that is simple, flavourful and nutritious, adapted to the needs of our clients and loaded with seasonal vegetables.

When planning the menu, we collect valuable feedback from our clients who are encouraged to share their meal preferences and suggestions. Last year, for example, we saw that beef meatballs were a big hit and that our chili recipe could be improved.

With this feedback in mind, the 2017 menu includes favourites like turkey with mushroom sauce and vegetable and cheese lasagna. It also includes new items such as roasted marinated chicken breast and tuna casserole. Along with our daily menu, we’re also developing more vegetarian alternatives like Root vegetable bread pudding, Seitan bourguignon, Tempeh meatballs, and Falafels.

As usual, all the meals are cooked and delivered to clients by dedicated volunteers, and include vegetables from the farm harvested by volunteers.

Sharing memories
Each month, the meals-on-wheels calendar shares a key moment from the past year and tells a story about the many facets of the Roulant’s work. It features friendly faces from our marvellous community, including many clients who joined in our activities.

Thanks to our partners
A big thanks to Todd Steward for the fantastic design of the calendar, and to our friends at Club Organic and Ferme Saint-Vincent for their financial contribution that made the 2017 calendar possible.
