The collectives are looking for new members!

Collective - Apiculture, Collective - Compost, Collective - Fruits Defendus, Collective - Mycollective, SantroVelo

As the new year begins, the Roulant’s collectives are looking for passionate and committed volunteers to join them and make a difference in the community.

The collectives offer a way to get deeply involved in an aspect of food, whether its fruit harvesting, cultivating mushrooms, closing the food cycle with composting or attending to beehives on our roof. The bike shop offers a place to empower people with repair knowledge and tools. All of this while also gaining valuable leadership skills and experiences in the community.

Typically volunteers meet and work together during weekday evenings and generally ask for lasting commitment from a couple of months to a year.

To get involved in your favourite collective’s work, check out their callouts below and contact them for more information.

Santropol Roulant Beekeeping collective

As a new member of the SR beekeeping collective, you will work with beekeepers of all levels of experience to care for our hives. Becoming a member of our collective is a year-long commitment involving mentorship, self-learning, hive inspections and weekly planning meetings. We welcome those with interest to learn both the theory and the hands-on skills involved in urban beekeeping in Québec.

Please sign up for one of our two information sessions in order to learn more about our beekeeping collective and how to apply! Happening on Saturday, February 8th  from 1:00pm to 2:30pm or Monday, February 10th from 6:00pm to 7:30pm.

Les Fruits défendus

Would you like to get involved in a movement focused on improving access to fresh fruits and its equitable distribution? Then this is your chance!

We’re looking for motivated new members to join us and help pursue our mission by supporting, planning and organizing the activities of the collective like harvests, organize events and workshops, and sharing our project for more people to join us across Québec.

Our tasks are quite varied, and everyone brings a different skill to share, all the while developing their leadership skills. And no prior experience necessary.

Email us to get involved and we’ll meet again in early February. Also, you can join anytime throughout the year.

SantroVélo

Would you like to get involved in empowering people to fix their bikes while also building a community around it? Then this is for you!

The bike shop is looking for new volunteers who are interested in either being in the shop, by sharing the repair knowledge or becoming a greeter for members – which is a great role to learn bike mechanics or support the planning and leadership of the collective. The latter helps in coordinating activities from organizing skills workshops, offering orientations and coming up with new projects and directions.

To get involved, fill out this form and come to the next orientation session on Tuesday, January 28th, at 6:15 pm. These events happen monthly!

To get involved with the Mycollectif/ve or the Vermicompost collective, check out their respective websites and contact them to get involved.
